Winter quarter is finally over!! Thank God I survived Experimental Psychology and was able to pull a B+ and 3.6 GPA for the term. For Spring Break I took my family out to Los Angeles to the Getty Museum and CA Science Center. We had a great time just being together.
Ok, so now the spring quarter has begun which is my last quarter here. My course of study is Intro to Social Work, Addiction & Recovery and Advanced Seminar in Clinical Psychology, which is a full load although I'm only required to be physically on-campus two evenings per week. However the courses run 3 and 1/2 hrs per meeting; the social work course is online. This will allow me time to do more law study and reading utilizing the UoL materials. I'd also like to write more entries in this blog.
My summer plans include doing some volunteering for a rape crisis center and the organization Critical Resistance, studying for the Graduate Record Examination and working. I'm also going to be making my plans for the graduate school application cycle this fall. So that gives me a whole year to dedicate to family, work and study/read law. I'm considering enrolling in the program in about 6 months, but that's not definite.
The primary goal of Critical Resistance is to end the Prison Industrial Complex worldwide and to work towards finding effective solutions and alternatives to reliance on incarceration. The United States currently leads the world in imprisonment with over 2 million people locked behind bars and 6 million overall in the penal system (The Sentencing Project). The War on Drugs with its accompanying draconian drug laws has been a principle contributor.
