Welcome to all the visitors to my blog! Its been a long time since I last wrote. I've been getting immersed in the psychology field, addiction counseling to be more precise. I've graduated now from my MS in Counseling program (as of October 2017) and sadly to say, did not get much accomplished with my law studies as I'd planned initially. I graduated with a 4.0 from my graduate program which here in the U.S. is the highest academic standing one can achieve. I am currently working at an addiction treatment facility here in Southern California and the experience has been awesome. I have learned so much and for that I am very grateful. As of my last entry on this blog, I was in the process of getting my last internship practicum set up. I ended up at another women's treatment facility, which I enjoyed very much. I learned a great deal and formed a good working relationship with my supervisor at the site.
I was promoted at my current job into a counseling role 3 months ago and that has been wonderful as well. A new company absorbed my current company shortly thereafter, so we are now in the throes of a transition. The new company has laid off many of my co-workers, but decided to keep a small number of us, myself included. To make a long story much shorter, my new employer is now doing a great deal of restructuring and well, this of course leaves me with a good deal of free time on my hands now. We are not currently taking any patients into treatment, so there's not much work for us to actually do. But we are continuing to be paid, which is quite nice regardless of how much we actually "work". This may be the respite I need to get going on my law studies again. I will keep you all posted. Happy Studies!
For those of you who are new to reading my blog, my initial plan was to design a kind of DIY psychology (social work) and law program. That's still my plan, but it seems to have taken on a life of its own!
