I took a couple of months to relax and visit with family and friends after graduation. Now its time to turn up the notch and study for the GRE! Yikes, it's almost time to start the application process for next fall. For those of you who don't know or remember, I'm planning to complete the MSW - Masters in Social Work degree AND the UOL LLB in due time. I'm designing a DIY dual degree program with Law and Social Work. I just graduated with the BA Psych from a Cal State University school. Wish me luck!
Anyhow, besides studying for the GRE and hanging out with friends and fam, I've been organizing my life and working in a new position with the Health and Human Services agency in my area. I'm doing in-home support for the disabled now. Previous to this, I worked at a luxury drug rehab facility for a couple of years. I went inactive at the drug rehab one month before graduation; luxury drug rehab wasn't my cup of tea. A lot of unethical business was going on and I in good conscience couldn't continue working there. I learned in school that oftentimes in the world of social work and mental health, the policies of the agency does not always correspond to the ethics we are held to in our profession. Many times, agencies employ unethical policies which actually do not help those they are supposed to be helping, and do cause them harm.
So now that things have mellowed out a bit and there's a constant, yet reliable pace to my life again, I can begin picking up my law studies again. By next year, I will have a year and a half in if I count the time before the break. I've decided to hold out on the volunteering activities for now.
If you're currently studying for the UOL LLB as an American student or have already graduated, your experience is certainly welcome here. Please feel free to post a comment and tell us all about it!
