Hello All,
Hope this finds all of you who stop by to read my blog, well and in good spirits and health. I am currently in my 6th month of interning for the county behavioral health system, and I'm learning so much! I was fortunate enough to land a great internship opportunity and for that I am grateful. My next hurdle is to secure master's level supervision for the last end of my internship requirements for my master's degree in psychology. Next June, I finish my degree and I can devote most of my time to my law degree studies with University of London. Graduation #2 is coming soon! Time really flies. It only seems like yesterday when I started working towards my Master's degree.
This internship has been great. I am the intern for the Moms Perinatal Substance Use program. I am learning a lot about the intricacies of the Child Welfare System and how that all works within the context of Parental substance use. I am currently writing a research paper on the subject. Here in California (USA) we have something called Drug Medi-Cal; an insurance waiver that is part of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). It devotes a large block of funding to the substance use problem so that people can get treatment as opposed to landing in jail or in prison. I attended a training to learn all about it. As far as I can understand, it is not yet fully in place, but will be very soon. With that will come new positions needing to be filled. I hope you all who have decided to study for the LLB are doing successfully well! Happy studying!
